The Taupo lake enchantment in New Zealand. New Zealand is a country that has beautiful natural scenery, lush forests, amazing wildlife, delicious foods and wines, which all of it will make the visitors spellbound. The youngest country in the world has variety of scenery, culture and art that is very close to each other. Located in the heart of North Island volcano, Taupo lake area is location of the largest freshwater lake in New Zealand, wonderful geothermal area and the famous Huka waterfalls.
Taupo lake was formed from great volcanic eruption in 181 BC that forming a volcanic crater covering an area of Singapore. With an area of 616 sq km, Taupo Lake is the largest freshwater lake in Australasia with water so clear where billions of freshwater fish live in.
There are 47 rivers and streams come down into Taupo lake and only one stream flows out, the Waikato river, the longest river in New Zealand. Taupo town is located right on the beach of the Taupo lake, with hotels offer spectacular snow-caped volcanic peaks in Tongariro National Park. From Auckland, it takes 4 hours 40 minutes travel to Taupo lake by car, or 45 minutes by air or 5 hours 25 minutes by train, or cheap flights to Wellington.
