Tom, November 21, 2011. Macau's Best Five Places Must be Visited - Top Interesting Tourist Destination
Macau's best five places actually are interesting and are very amazing to visit. However, knwon as the gambling heaven, Macau makes the price of lodgings are extremely expensive for backpackers. Therefore, I did some tricks. In order get Macau's best places, I spent my time in Hongkong and got to Macau by Ferry. Arriving at Ferry port, I was directly welcome by golden nuance hotels and casino of Sands. From there, I got a ride of Grand Lisbosa Casino bus leading me to the main street, Avenida de Almeida Rebeiro. By tracing this avenue, I directly caught a sight of amusing places that become the Macau's typical characteristics. Before continuing my journey, I crossed the street and entered a passage away buying an egg tart at Cafe e Nata Margaret's.
While enjoying my egg tart, I walked along Avenoda de Almeida Ribeiro for about 300 meters. Senado Square was directly in sight with a pool and fountain in the centre of the square and becomes one of Macaus best five places. Why must Senado Square or in Portuguese called Largo do Senado be visited? As one of Macau's best five places, this is the historical witness of Macau as the main gate for Western countries entering Tiongkok at the past time. Most all building in the square corner, was designed in European style. St. Dominic Church adn Holy House of Mercy are also places you must go to visit. The later was the first institution sparking of clinical idea with the first western style in Macau. There are many stores and restaurants you can visit among those old buildings. The old building s became a great spots to take pictures. But, you have to wear black glasses if visiting at shinny day due to the intense sunlight. So, be prepared an umbrella or black glasses with you.
St. Paul Cathedral Ruins
From Senado Square, another Macau's best five places good to visit is St. Paul Cathedral Ruins. Along the street, there were many culinary and souvenir stores. Compared to Hongkong, shopping in Macau cost you less money for the cheap prices. But, Moslems had to be careful for much snack food available there was derived from ham. As Macau's best five places, these ruins looked amusing from far, especially with the flower garden on the left of the ascent street leading to the church. From the top of the ruins, Macau scenery looked astonishingly admiring. The luxurious and colorful Casino building with gloomy-color old buildings which sometimes seemed dirty becomes a unique combination.
Casino building also became Macau's five best places. Despite I did not like gambling, I give time looking Casino Building up and admired the casino interior design in that former Portuguese colonized country. In addition to Venetian Macao, there were some good-looking Casino Buildings from both outside and inside such as Grand Lisboan and LGM located in Avenida De Dr. Sun Yat Sen. As part of the Casino Buildings, one of Macau's best five places, the interior theme of the building was designed with movie theme, as the name. Some parts of parks and restaurants were created as movie creating location. Panda Park, located next to Casino Building was the favorite place to hang out. On each Casino entrance, we would be directly welcomed by golden Kungfu Panda Statue.
Guan Yin Statue
Not far from MGM Grand casino and hotel, there was Guan Yin Statue, or frequently called in the movie as Kwan Im Goddess. This place was also one of the Macau's best five places. This statue was made from bronze with 20 meters in tall at the top of the building topped by lotus bud. This looking-like Our Lady was designed by artist from Portuguese, Christina Rocha Leiria. As the Macau's five best places, Guan Yin statue is rather far from the main Macau Island since it was built on the made-man small island and there was connected by a long path.
The last place, as Macau's best five places you must visit was Macau Tower. It wa quite far. You, therefore, are suggested take taxi if you want to get there since all streets in Macau is one direction. Don't worry about the expensiveness for Macau is not larger than South Jakarta. If you want to test your adrenalin, you can try bungee jump at the Macau Tower. But, this is very expensive. For backpacker like me, getting at the top of the tower costs me much. I finally only had lunch at one of the restaurant looking over the Friendship Bridge (Ponte De Sai Van), which connected Macau Island and Taipa Island. But, somehow Macau Tower still can be one of the Macau's best five places.
